Markandey Mahadev, Kaithi

Markandey Mahadev is famous temple of Shiva, known as Markandeya Shiva. The puranic legends tell the story of the sage-son Markandeya who installed a linga and worshipped it. By virtue of the merit of his great devotion to Shiva he received the blessing of "immortality" from the Shiva, that is how the linga is named after Markandeya.
