Hastinapur : It is situated in district Meerut & connected through Meerut-Bijnor Road, about 37 kms. from Meerut and 100 kms. from Delhi. It has been the silent witness to the majestic, grandeur, royal conflicts and princely anecdotes of Pandavas & Kauravas. It was also known as capital city of Pandavas and Kauravas at the time of Mahabharata. Sites related to Mahabharata spread across the Hastinapur like Vidurr Tila, Pandaveshwar Temple, Baradri, Draunadeshwar Temple, Karna Temple, Draupadi Ghat and Kama Ghat etc.
Situated 22 KMs. toward West of Meerut in District Meerut. It is a fascinating town with historical past. It was established during 18th Century by the French adventurer Walter Reinhardt, popularly known as “Sanira”. He came to India in 1754 as a private soldiers from the French East India Company. The Jagir of the present day Sardhana was awarded to him by Najub Rohilla Chief Zabta Khan of Saharanpur for his services. After his death in 1778 he was succeeded by his widow, Begum Yohana Samru, who built the imposing Roman Catholic Church Shrine at Sardhana. The magnificent church now known as “Shrine-Basilica of our lady of Graces” was built by Farzana Begum, the princess of Sardhana. The work began in the year 1809 and was completed in 1822. It costs more than four Lac Rupees at that time and it has been declared a protected monument by Archaeological survey of India in 1924 and raised to the status of Basilica in 1961. Shri Mahdev Temple at Gujran Gate and Samru Mahel are also some of the important tourist places worth visiting in Sardhana.
Pura Maha Dev Village is inhabited by the Malik Jats and is situated on a hillock on the banks of the Hindon River. This temple is situated in District Baghpat of Uttar Pradesh . There is a very ancient temple dedicated to the Lord Shiva, where, twice a year, Shiva devotees carry water from the holy River Ganges, at Haridwar, walking all the way, as an offering to Lord Shiva. Fairs are held here on the fourteenth day of Shraavana (sometime in August–September) and Phalguna (February) in the foothills of the Lord Shiva temple in this village. Pura Mahadev is about 3 kilometres from the nearest town, Baleni, which is well-served by the highway from Meerut (32 kilometres) to Baghpat (28 kilometres).
It is believed that in ancient times, Parshuram had done harsh tenacity in order to please Lord Shiva by establishing Shiv Ling in this temple. Lord Shiva appealed to Parasurama after being pleased with Parasuram's penance. When Lord Shiva appeared, then Shiva had fulfilled two desires of Parashuram. The first Parshuram's mother to be alive and the second is to fulfill the wish for world welfare. It is also believed that, the sage Parashurama founded a Shiva temple here and named the place Shivapuri which in process of time became changed to Shivpura and then got shortened to Pura
