Prayagraj

  • Prayagraj is crowned in ancient scriptures as ‘Prayag’, ‘Prayagraj’ or ‘Teertharaj’ and is considered the holiest of pilgrimage centres of India.
  • The Kumbh held in every six years and Mahakumbh in every 12 years at Prayagraj (Sangam) are the largest gatherings of pilgrims on this earth.
  • Akbar's Fort on the bank of Ganga and All Saint’s Cathedral are just two of the amazing monuments of this city bustling with pilgrims and visitors throughout the year.

Chitrakoot

  • Famed in Hindu mythology, Chitrakoot is celebrated in ballads and scriptures for its religious importance and close association with the epic Ramayan.
  • It is believed to be the place where Lord Rama and Sita spent 12 years of their exile and where the Sage Atri and Sati Anasuiya meditated.
  • This holy town, spread over both the states U.P. and M.P. is set sylvan surroundings on the banks of the river Mandakini, also known as the river Payasvini.
  • The riverside is lined with ghats and the town is dotted with several temples.
  • Hanuman Dhara, Kamad Giri, Sphatik Shila and Ram Ghat are must-see places in and around Chitrakoot
